Judges & Volunteers

If you are a past or present supporter of the Odyssey of the Mind program please consider helping judge this year’s event. We need lots of judges and volunteers of all kinds so that all the work the teams have done will be fairly evaluated.

Head judges, long term and spontaneous problem judges, staging area judges and style judges need to attend one of the training sessions held prior to the tournament or make arrangements with their problem captain. Judges training dates and locations are on the calendar. Timer/announcers, scorekeepers, and score room workers receive a brief training on the day of the tournament. Except for score room workers, judges cannot take time off from their duties to watch a team perform. Judges are provided a t-shirt and lunch.

Each team is required to provide one judge. To credit yourself to a team you will need the team's membership name, number, problem and division. This information can be obtained from the team's coach or the district's membership contact. If you don't have this information or you are not volunteering on behalf of a specific team you can still credit yourself to a school by entering the name of the school in place of the membership name.

Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and take-down, registration, concession sales, monitor hallways, and police the entrances to long term performance sites. Volunteers can work partial days and will be able to watch the long term performance of their children's, relative's or friend's team. Teams cannot use a volunteer to satisfy the judge requirement.
